4 Reasons To Love Chiang Mai
1. The Temples (Wats)
Chiang Mai is home to over 300 temples (known as Wats). During your stay, we’ll take you to see many of the most beautiful ones. From Wat Phra That Doi Suthep high in the clouds above Chiang Mai to Wat Umong nestled in the forests nearby, we’ll visit these serene oases to contemplate your experience and witness their natural beauty. These temples carry a potent & calming energy, one that is sure to ground you after your iboga experience.
2. The Food
While Thailand’s food is world renowned, Chiang Mai is known specifically for it’s northern Thai specialties. Spicy Khao Soi, bright Laab and rich Hung Lay are just some of the delicacies you can find while wandering the street markets. In addition to Northern Thai Food, you can also enjoy normal Thai favorites like Pad Thai, Som Thom, Satay, Massaman & Tom Yam. Due to it’s buddhist tradition, Chiang Mai has many delicious vegan & vegetarian options throughout the city. Enjoy a freshly made green smoothie bowl at Blue Diamond or a perfectly made vegan pizza!
3. Nature
Many people travel to Thailand for it’s famous beaches and while we don’t have beaches in Chiang Mai, we more than make up for it with mountains, waterfalls & the jungle. Most hikes are just a short distance from the city and offer incredible views. One of our favorite integration day hikes passes through two of Chiang Mai’s best temples- Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and Wat Pha Lat. Other hikes meander alongside tranquil rivers and depending on the weather, a trip out to the sticky waterfalls- a strange marvel where your feet actually stick to the stone. The city of Chiang Mai itself offers its own wonders, the vibrant night markets and the little streets to explore for authentic arts & unique gifts.
4. Wellness
Chiang Mai has always been an extraordinary place for spiritual & physical healing- it’s abundance of temples, natural beauty & fresh food make it an ideal location for your iboga experience. We’ll take a trip to the day spa, relaxing into an herbal sauna followed by a deeply soothing massage. You’ll also have access to cranio-sacral and acupuncture therapy and a host of other healing modalities available in this wonderful city.
